Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Computing and Information Systems

Athabasca University (AU) is Canada's Open University, delivering 
education at a
distance to over 37,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Courses use 
a combination
of multimedia delivery via the World Wide Web and printed materials, 
delivered to the
student's home or workplace. SCIS offers a B.A. Major in Information 
Systems, a
Certificate in Information Systems, a B.Sc. in Computing and Information 
Systems, and
an M.Sc. in Information Systems All SCIS faculty are expected to work in 
both the
undergraduate and graduate programs as normal workload.

Athabasca University, invites applications for a tenure-track position 
in the School
of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS) to initiate and/or lead 
international
quality research; develop, revise, coordinate, and teach courses at both 
undergraduate
and postgraduate level; carry out related administrative duties; and 
assist in the
development of new doctoral track, MSc IS program streams and/or a 
Gaming Certificate.
The candidate will also be responsible for supervising graduate and 
undergraduate essays
and projects and serve on graduate committees.

An interest in, and preferably experience with, distributed learning 
environment and
distance education are essential for this position. Over the past ten 
years SCIS has
developed and implemented innovative approaches to delivering and 
supporting post-secondary
distance education in computing and information systems. SCIS is looking 
for a flexible
individual who enjoys teaching, and is comfortable with the systematic 
approaches to
course development and delivery required for this form of distance 
education.

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, 
Information Systems or
a related discipline, and applied experience are required for this 
position. In addition,
the candidate must have research interests in one or more of the 
following areas:
e-learning, game programming, human computer interaction, pervasive 
computing, mobile
computing, multimedia, grid computing, and software engineering. The 
successful candidate
will be responsible for developing and maintaining courses and teaching 
in these and
related areas. In accordance with Canadian immigration department 
regulations, this
advertisement gives priority to Canadian citizens and permanent 
residents. All
educational credentials must be recognized in Canada.

This is an AUFA tenure-track appointment. Salary is commensurate with 
qualifications
and experience, supplemented by a generous benefits package.
