I would like you to invite you to observe and participate in the Economist's
inaugural debate in an online series designed to "elevate the dialog on
pressing issues facing the world today." The proposition addressed in this
first debate will be:

The house believes that the continuing introduction of new technologies and
new media adds little to the quality of most education.

Sir John Daniel, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Commonwealth
of Learning, will argue for the proposition. I will argue against it.

You can access the online debate at: http://www.economist.com/debate. The
debate will follow a modified version of the Oxford rules for debate. It
will take place between October 15th and October 23rd and there will be
plenty of opportunity for reactions from the floor. I encourage you to
contribute your best thoughts.

I hope to see you there.

Bob
